Sade Rejects Jay-Z Collaboration? (via AHungryNation.com)

Jay-Z may be one of the biggest names in rap but it seems it will take a little more to get a collab with music legend Sade. She explains in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times that many MC's have approached her to work on projects but she has politely declined.

She explains to Nelson George, “I’m too scared. They’ll find me out. It’s like The Wizard of Oz. They’ll find out there’s nothing there. As for collaborations, I’m collaborating with the band and do what we do. I see myself as a member of this band who does these songs that we write.”

Thats what you call diva power...

My favorite post of the week from AHungryNation.com..

Well since I'm all about supporting my people and reinforcing a strong infrastructure, I'm going to post one post a week from my brother Hungry's blog.  His blog is named 'A Hungry Nation', and I must admit it's very dope.  His differs from your most mainstream blogs by showcasing issues and music that you won't readily hear elsewhere.  Exclusivity is the best word to use here.  So, b/c he's got me hooked now and reading on the daily, I'm gonna show him some love and more promotion by introducing him regularly to MY audience.  So.. here I go off to http://ahungrynation.com to find my fav for the day.  Expect my fave, not this but every week.  I'll just post my favorite one though.  You've got to go and check out the rest for yourself.  Join the community on the site and stay up to date with the latest.

Aight ya'll peace...

Interview w/ J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League

Last night, I had the opportunity to meet with the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League (Erik "Rook" Ortiz, Kevin "Colione" Crowe, Kenny "Barto" Bartolomei) and interview them for an upcoming visual series, that I'll name in the near future.  As my host, Morgan London, proceeded with the questions; I could tell that my suspicions were being confirmed.  These brothers were not only knowledgeable concerning their craft, but humble in their success and completely down to earth.  They've grown into the idea of being geniuses at making great music, but still haven't forgotten that they walk on the same ground as the lesser recognized... even though they've won Grammy and Billboard Awards.

Here's the link to their Wikipedia page, in case you're not familiar with their work.  Get familiar.

The interview went well and I'm looking forward to doing more work with these guys.  Your network is your net worth.  If you don't know, now you know.  Beyotch.

Signing off,
-S.C.

Making Up For Lost Time

Sooooo... it's been quite some time since my last post, as you all can tell.   Lol.  And there's good reason.  Mainly because.. I'm not a big fan of idle chatter.  That's why I don't tweet or update my facebook statuses 50 times a day.  When I speak, I'd rather my words resonate with the familiarity of a less heard, but much more powerful drum - than your average snare or kick.

There's been so much going on that.. *yes* I could have posted about.  But I chose not to.  As I said, I write when inspiration truly hits me... not just to be heard speaking.

Let's start with the recent birth of my firstborn son, Elijah.

He entered the world shortly after midnight on July 26th, 2010.  A true Blessing to our family and this world as we know it.  Already, his eyes are so bright and full of understanding.  His little personality is actually quite big.  And, his smile is completely infectious...at two months old.  I'm still in awe of this gem that Jennifer and I have created.  It's something that I wouldn't give back for the world.

I'm engaged.... Another major step on life's ladder.  There was a time in life when I'd discounted the possibility.  The price just seemed to high anyway.  But here I am making the investement of my life.  Life is such a funny thing.  Coincidentally I use humor as a backdrop.

I'm still learning everyday... and loving it.  Knowledge is and always will be = power.  Enough knowledge (combined with understanding) creates wisdom.  And wisdom is a Blessing from above.  Many people don't survive the wounds attained by learning.  Many survive the wounds but still never learn.  So I'm Blessed to be able to maintain a steady pace of daily learning, and in return I educate.  My parents are educators.  One formally and the other spiritually.  Some days they switch roles, some days they share them.  Most days they laugh straight through, lol.  And I thank God for them.

Business is picking up from all angles.  The agencies are being notarized more and more with every passing week; city to city and state to state.  We're going global.  My partners and I still have a Golden Understanding of our goals and we're working relentlessly towards them.

My pen is constantly writing.  My ink often times overflows.  I've been creating non-stop for the past ten years; from literature to music to business plans, proposals, resumes, and marketing literature.  It's sometimes amazing to witness such foolish dedication, spoken from a third person perspective.  "What makes you keep going?", is what the non-believers ask.  In return I ponder to myself cynically, "What would make a person give up on their dreams?".  But there's no time to waste on the negative vibrations.

I created this blog for a reason and that reason was to inspire.  To create dialogue.  To give you a more personal piece of me than what you can get from a 140 -260 character status update.  Thanks for reading.

I'll be making up for lost time from here on out, or at least attempting to.  This simply means finding more inspiration.  I have alot to offer, and let's face it... you all deserve it.  Lol.

Until next time.
